Medway NHS Foundation Trust is unique – undergoing transformational changes within the organisation that provides an extensive range of clinical services to a diverse population of approximately 400,000 across Medway and Swale.

We are pleased to announce that following a recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission we have exited special measures after ‘major improvements’. Medway NHS is now no longer rated as inadequate overall, with one area described as ‘outstanding’ and many others as ‘good’.

We are looking for a {Macmillan Breast Cancer Nurse – Band 7} who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.

Macmillan CNS Breast Care

In conjunction with the breast MDT and support services, the post holder will assist with the co-ordination of the treatment pathway, incorporating information provision, physical and psychological support and completion of holistic needs assessment.

The Post holder will provide specialist wound care/seroma clinics, simple lymphoedema assessment and treatment, breast cancer family history and prosthetic clinics.

We are looking for an experienced breast clinical nurse specialist to join our breast cancer multi-disciplinary team at Medway NHS Foundation, to work in conjunction with 2 other clinical nurse specialists currently in post.

The Trust provides care for patients with early and secondary breast cancer, with an onsite chemotherapy service and radiotherapy treatment provided at Maidstone hospital. The Trust offers immediate breast reconstruction with our onco-plastic surgeon on site and works closely with Queen Victoria Hospital (specialist reconstructive surgery centre for the south east of England) to ensure patients have the full range of reconstructive options available.

This is an exciting time at Medway breast service’s with the on-going development of stratified risk pathways - implementation due in April 2018 and the development of the recovery package with health and well-being events being organized for 2018 .The post holder will play an active part in the multi-disciplinary meetings and service review, able to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

This is a Macmillan post and offers both support from and access to Macmillan and its education programmes.
The post holder will require
• RGN with post registration experience and have completed the breast care course and cancer genetic course for healthcare professionals
• Have the ability to work autonomously and as part of the multidisciplinary team
• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Have experience of managing own case-load effectively
